Terms

Terms for using Matcha Interactive's stories, learning experiences, family accounts, and Family Pass.

Last updated: 21 August 2026

Using Matcha Interactive

These terms apply when you access or use Matcha Interactive ("Matcha") websites, stories, learning experiences, accounts, and Family Pass features. By creating an adult-managed account, purchasing a paid feature, or continuing to use the service after these terms are presented, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Families, children, and adult responsibility

Matcha is designed for parent-guided and educator-supported use. An adult should manage family accounts, reader profiles, purchases, consent choices, and age-appropriate activity decisions. A child should not be asked to enter payment information or form a paid contract with Matcha.

If you are not legally able to agree to these terms where you live, use Matcha only with a parent, guardian, school, or other authorized adult. Where applicable child-privacy law requires parental consent or additional age-assurance steps, access to the relevant feature may depend on those steps.

Accounts and reader profiles

You are responsible for protecting adult account credentials and for information added to profiles under your account. Use only the information needed for the learning experience and avoid adding a child's full legal name, school, home address, phone number, precise location, or other unnecessary identifying information.

You may not create an account using false authority over a child or intentionally use another person's account without permission.

Family Pass and paid features

Features marked as part of Family Pass require an active entitlement. The price, currency, billing period, renewal information, taxes where applicable, and payment-provider terms shown before checkout apply to the transaction. A checkout redirect alone does not activate Family Pass; access begins after Matcha receives and verifies the provider's payment confirmation.

Our Subscriptions & Refunds policy explains cancellation, renewal, billing questions, and refund requests in more detail. Mandatory consumer rights where you live continue to apply and are not limited by these terms.

Matcha content and intellectual property

Unless a particular item says otherwise, Matcha's software, interface, original illustrations, narration, stories, branding, and other original materials are owned by or licensed to Matcha and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Some stories may be inspired by public-domain folklore or use third-party/openly licensed source material; that does not place Matcha's particular adaptation, artwork, audio, software, or presentation into the public domain.

You may use Matcha for personal and family learning and for classroom discovery where the experience permits it. You may not copy, scrape, redistribute, sell, publish, remove rights notices from, or present Matcha content as your own except where a separate licence expressly allows it.

User submissions and future creative tools

If a Matcha feature lets you submit text, images, audio, drawings, or other material, you are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed to submit it. Additional creator or community terms may apply before Matcha launches public user-generated-content, publishing, or payout features. Those future terms will describe ownership, licences, moderation, takedowns, and payout rules rather than silently changing the rights to ordinary family content.

Acceptable use

  • Do not attempt unauthorized access, interfere with security, overload the service, or disrupt access for others.
  • Do not bypass Family Pass access controls, falsify payment or entitlement information, or abuse trials or promotions.
  • Do not submit unlawful, exploitative, abusive, deceptive, infringing, or harmful material.
  • Do not use Matcha to collect unnecessary personal information from children.
  • Do not reverse engineer or automatically extract substantial portions of protected Matcha content except where applicable law expressly permits it.

Product changes and availability

We continuously improve stories, narration, activities, and product features. Content may be corrected, updated, moved, temporarily unavailable, or replaced. We will try to avoid unnecessarily disrupting paid access, but a particular individual story or activity is not guaranteed to remain available forever. If a material service change affects mandatory consumer rights, those rights continue to apply.

Safety, learning, and AI

Matcha is an educational and entertainment product, not a substitute for professional medical, legal, psychological, or emergency advice. Future AI-assisted experiences may generate imperfect output. When a feature lets a user interact directly with AI, Matcha will identify that interaction where required and design child-facing AI features with age-appropriate safeguards.

Privacy

Our Privacy notice, Children's Privacy notice, and Cookies & Similar Technologies notice explain how Matcha handles family accounts, reader profiles, progress, analytics, communications, and technical information.

Suspension and termination

We may limit or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect children, users, Matcha, payment integrity, intellectual property, or service security, or when there is a serious violation of these terms. Where practical and appropriate, we will provide information about the reason and a way to contact us.

Legal rights and liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded or limited where you live. To the extent permitted by law, Matcha is provided on an "as available" basis and we are not responsible for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. Any limitation in these terms is subject to mandatory consumer, child-protection, privacy, and other applicable law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Matcha develops. We will update the date above and, when a change materially affects an account or paid service, provide additional notice where required. Changes do not retroactively remove rights that already accrued under mandatory law.
