How Matcha Interactive handles family accounts, child profiles, learning progress, newsletter emails, payments, and child safety considerations.

Our approach

Matcha Interactive is designed for children to enjoy with adult guidance. We aim to collect only the information needed to provide, protect, and improve Matcha, and we ask a parent or guardian to manage account, contact, and payment actions.

What we collect today

  • Family account information: account email and authentication information needed to create, sign in to, secure, and recover a Matcha account.
  • Reader profiles: information a parent or guardian chooses to add to a profile, such as a display name, avatar, locale, or timezone.
  • Learning and reading progress: the Matcha product or story being used, content identifiers, saved progress, and recent reading activity so an experience can continue across supported devices.
  • Family Pass records: payment-provider references, plan, market, billing period, subscription status, paid-through dates, and entitlement status. Matcha does not need to store full payment-card details to determine access.
  • Newsletter and support information: email addresses voluntarily submitted by a parent or guardian for product updates, plus messages sent to [email protected].
  • Technical information: ordinary server and security information such as IP address, browser or device information, page requests, errors, and timestamps.

How we use information

  • To provide family accounts, reader profiles, saved progress, and Family Pass access.
  • To authenticate accounts and protect Matcha from abuse or unauthorized access.
  • To process and reconcile payment-provider confirmations without treating a browser redirect as proof of payment.
  • To send Matcha product updates only when a parent or guardian has requested them.
  • To reply to support, privacy, or partnership requests.
  • To understand reliability and product usage well enough to improve performance, accessibility, safety, and the learning experience.

Children's privacy

Parents or guardians should create and manage family accounts, reader profiles, newsletter signups, and purchases. Matcha does not intentionally ask a child to submit an email address or payment information. Please avoid putting a child's full legal name, school, address, phone number, or other unnecessary identifying information into a reader profile.

Payments and service providers

When Family Pass checkout is available, payment information is handled by the checkout provider. Matcha receives the provider information needed to reconcile payment status and activate or remove access. Hosting, email delivery, authentication, and other infrastructure providers may process limited information as needed to operate those services.

Data choices

A parent or guardian may contact us to ask about, correct, or request deletion of account, profile, progress, newsletter, or support information. Some transaction or security records may need to be retained where required for legitimate operational, accounting, fraud-prevention, or legal purposes.

Questions or deletion requests

Email [email protected] and tell us which Matcha account or email address the request concerns.
